PARIS
The best season to visit Paris, famously, is spring... or fall — even summer and winter offer not-to-be-missed opportunities for experiencing the City of Light's myriad facets. Depending on when you can make the trip, we might:
- visit the Louvre on a targeted tour — or on a Thursday evening — to navigate a directed and more solitary path through this massive and well-appreciated collection,
- sample signature pastries and baguettes from any number of Paris’s master bakers,
- stroll through the well-manicured Tuileries gardens, weaving among historic sculptures and fountains,
- snap stunning aerial panoramic photos of Parisian monuments and rooftops from the Grande Roue de Paris Ferris wheel,
- dine in the up-and-coming haut Marais or at a Michelin-starred restaurant,
- wander the narrow, labyrinthine streets of Montmartre,
- alight at a sidewalk café to people-watch as you sip your coffee or pastis,
- take a literary tour of the Left Bank,
- ponder “The Thinker” in the sculpture garden of the Musée Rodin,
- bike the meandering, wooded paths of the Bois de Boulogne,
- select an array of cheeses and tasty treats at La Grande Epicerie de Paris for a picnic in the Luxembourg Gardens,
- sketch on the banks of the Seine,
- cruise the river on a guided boat tour of Parisian architecture and history at sunset,
- let your curiosity guide you through the stalls of one of Paris’s lauded flea markets,
- engage in philosophical/literary discussion at Les Deux Magots — the favorite café of philosophers Jean-Paul Sartre, Albert Camus, Simone de Beauvoir, et al,
- attend a reading at the iconic Shakespeare & Co. Bookstore,
- shop the upscale boutiques on the Boulevard Saint-Germain, the hip stores in the 6th arrondissement, or the elegant department stores on the Grands Boulevards,
- lounge on the lawn for a showing during the open-air cinema festival at the Parc de la Villette,
